POSITION: SCHEDULER
Primarily Stratford site
Temporary Full-time
(Shifts: 8-hour shifts; days, evenings and occasional weekends), may be subject to change
 
POSITION SUMMARY:              Under the direction of the Program Director, Surgical Services and Maternal Child, the Scheduler will be responsible for preparing and monitoring of staffing schedules for Alliance nursing unit staff, including Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers and Unit Clerks.
 
REPORTS TO:              Manager, Patient Flow & Scheduling
 
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
 
SALARY: $27.55 to 29.20 per hour
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Completion of High School Diploma required 
- Completion of community college business or administrative assistant course, or equivalent experience, required
 
Experience:
- Previous experience in scheduling staff an asset
- Previous experience in a hospital setting an asset
- Previous Meditech experience an asset
- Previous experience with computerized scheduling software an asset
 
Abilities:
- Excellent working knowledge of Collective Agreements, preferably HPHA ONA and CUPE contracts
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and scheduling software
- Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and deal with constantly changing and competing priorities
- Ability to work in a fast paced, often stressful, environment with numerous interruptions
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgment
- Ability to problem-solve and remain impartial
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and organize workload
- Ability to interact on a professional basis with nursing unit staff and Leaders
- Self-directed with well-developed time management and organizational skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to establish good working relationships and maintain flexibility to meet the needs of multiple managers and units
