Compensation: $38.00/hr. - $43.00/hr. dependent on skills and experience

Overview of Position:

The Millwrights work with direct reports for installs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs mechanical machinery and equipment. As one of our Millwrights you will use technical drawings, various specs, and verbal instructions for planning and accomplishing goals. As a professional, you inspect your own work and meet deadlines. This position may also be responsible for the structural welding for the Millwright Department.

This position works cooperatively with other tradespeople such as plumbers, welders, sheet metal workers, sprinkler fitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians. When assembling large, heavy machinery, you might work with a several millwrights and apprentices. The successful candidate must always demonstrate safe working practices and procedures. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and set up for the job
  • Interpret drawings and performs mathematical calculations
  • Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting special or unusual needs
  • Select appropriate materials for each job

  • Rigging and hoisting

  • Build or dismantle machines

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and come up with solutions to fix mechanical problems and keep equipment running smoothly

  • Work with your hands and tools to fix hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components such as cylinders, pumps, conveyors, motors, valves, and bearing assemblies

  • Work with equipment such as grinders, welders, power and hand tools etc.

  • Design and create holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers.

  • Maintain a record of all the work completed so as to facilitate the accounting activities.

  • Follow company safety policies and safe work practices.

 

Requirements:

  • Certificate of Qualification in either the Industrial Millwright Trade Code 433 A or Construction Millwright Trade Code 426 A.

  • Accurate with numbers and enjoy working with them.
  • CWB Certified structural welder and blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to work with complicated welding tools like ox-fuel, plasma, mag-drills, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial or construction environment.
  • Current working at heights certification preferred
  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
  • Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.
  • Skilled in operating at least some types of vehicles like trucks, fork lifts, elevated work platforms/scissor lifts, etc.
  • Ability to work at shop or travel to client locations.
  • General knowledge of Health and Safety, including Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations for Industrial Establishments and Construction, Hazard Recognition, Material Handling Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Machine Guarding, and Electrical Safety.
  • Organizational skills ensuring work is performed in an efficient manner.
  • Strong communication skills, including written (reports, time sheets, work orders, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high volume workload.
  • Have required tools and personal protective equipment suitable to construction environments. (CSA approved steel-toed work boots).
  • Able to occasionally assist with the lifting of heavy and awkward product which may be up to 100 lbs.
  • Bondable, have a valid driver’s license ,and ability to provide a drivers abstract.

 

Working Environment:

  • This position requires confidentiality in dealing with our company, as well as information such as specific business objectives and/or financial information of the Company.
  • Fast-paced environment with expectations of timely completion of projects for the client.
  • Working in a various locations, both on site and off site and may be required to travel to work sites outside the city.
  • Moderate risk of injury, regularly exposed to noise, equipment, chemicals, and temperature variations.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or in roles that require fall protection.
  • This position requires long periods of standing and walking.
  • May be required to work flexible and/or extended hours in order to address business needs.
