As a RN working in the Haemodialysis Unit at Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) you will have the opportunity to care for patients through provision of renal health education, primary nursing of dialysis patients, use and maintenance of equipment, and providing support to patients/family. When working on this unit you are an integral member of a team who provides hands-on care.

Qualifications

  • Current Registration with Ontario College of Nurses
  • Preference will be given to candidates already holding a recognized nephrology nursing course
  • Ability to complete required Nephrology Nursing Course, or willing to successfully complete an in-house training program
  • A minimum of one-year of recent Hemodialysis or Acute Care nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to function independently in a Medical Acute Care setting
  • Current Certification in BCLS and demonstrated ongoing competence through annual re-certification
  • Certification in Blood Glucose Monitoring and demonstrated competence in BGM through annual recertification
  • Certification in IV Therapy with demonstrated ongoing competence
  • Demonstrated experience of CVADS
  • Knowledge, competence, and ability to demonstrate clinical nursing skills and concepts in accordance with practice and nursing standards
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and clients
  • Physical ability to perform the job
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture an asset
  • Reliable attendance record
