POSITION: Manager, Emergency

UNIT: Emergency

STATUS: Full Time

SALARY: $64.35 -66.93/hour 

HOURS:

The successful candidate will work Monday – Friday (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital. This position is also required to participate in the leadership on-call rotation.
 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Director, Medicine and Emergency, the Manager, Emergency Department is responsible for the day to day clinical and operational activities of the Emergency Department, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, and facilitation of quality improvement initiatives and change management. Major areas of focus for this role includes recruitment and retention, patient access and flow, fostering effective working relationships and linkages within the unit(s) and with other teams throughout the Hospital.

This is a unique opportunity for a leader to show case their strengths and talents in process redesign, program evaluation and development while using LEAN principles. The incumbent will play a leadership role in developing care strategies and will work collaboratively to ensure quality service delivery in a timely and safe manner within a very high-paced environment.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) Degree or an undergraduate degree in a related field required – in progress will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience (required)
  • Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Highly developed critical thinking and evidence-based decision making
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to Patient Safety
  • Demonstrated leadership, team development, and facilitation skills coupled with superior interpersonal, relationship and communication skills
  • Demonstrates STEGH values and the ability to promote values of shared leadership and interprofessional team collaboration
  • Demonstrated learning agility and commitment to professional self development and the development of others
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability to research leading practice and implement quality based programming and seeks to exceed industry benchmarks and performance metrics.

Successful candidates must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada, and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
