Current Rate of Pay: Min $33.11- Max  $34.44

Current Shifts: Primarily Days  (may include rotating weekends, evenings and on-call shifts)

Position Summary:

The Facilities Department ensures that the hospital’s equipment, spaces, structures, and infrastructure continue to support the hospitals mission of providing the highest possible quality care and experience for patients and their families.

Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, The Electrician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and repair of electrical service in the hospital facility. The Electrician is also responsible for general repairs and maintenance throughout the facility and for assisting other skilled trades where required.  The Electrician works in accordance with the Ontario College of Trades training standards and GGH’s mission, vision, values and policies.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician Required
  • Current Electrical Certification and work history
  • Work experience in a health care facility preferred, including:
  • Wiring related to the pneumatic tube system
  • Control Panels for Medical Vacuum, Medical Air, Water Systems
  • Various lighting systems throughout the hospital
  • Testing and maintenance of both the normal and emergency power systems
  • Pneumatic tube system
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the Building Automation System
  • Electrical inspections on new equipment
  • Maintenance on stretchers and beds
