Summary

The Sales Manager – Building Envelope is a key driver in expanding Convoy’s non-roofing product and service lines. They lead strategic growth initiatives, develop partnerships, and work cross-functionally to build our offering in wall systems, insulation, waterproofing, cladding, and other exterior envelope technologies. They are responsible for identifying market opportunities, building product roadmaps, leading go-to-market strategies, and collaborating with sales, operations, and supply chain to execute growth plans. This is a pivotal role in helping Convoy evolve from a roofing-first distributor to a full-spectrum building envelope leader.

Responsibilities

Market Assessment & Growth Strategy:

  • Identify and assess non-Convoy building envelope (BE) prospects to expand Convoy’s reach into new customer segments.
  • Analyze existing Convoy customer accounts to uncover opportunities for cross-selling or expanding their building envelope product mix.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify competitive trends, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive incremental revenue and strengthen Convoy’s market position across the region.

Product Line Development & Management

In partnership with Purchasing and Operations, you will:

  • Partner with vendors, manufacturers, and internal stakeholders to source and define product specifications, standards, and pricing strategies.
  • Drive product launches, promotional plans, and training for sales teams.
  • Monitor product performance, margin trends, and lifecycle management.

Sales Enablement & Collaboration

  • Accompany Convoy sales representatives daily to customer meetings to support and advance our building envelope offering.
  • Conduct regular sales training sessions on new and evolving building envelope products and systems.
  • Work closely with sales management to ensure all salespeople receive comprehensive support from relevant vendors and internal resources.
  • Equip branch and regional sales teams with knowledge, tools, and collateral to effectively position “Beyond Roofing” products.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert and primary resource for sales and account management teams.
  • Adhere to outlined KPIs and drive sales results on specific product lines across the territory.

Quote Coverage and Development

  • Work with the existing centralized quote team to ensure full coverage of all public bids, ensuring inclusion of all relevant building envelope offerings.
  • Assist sales representatives with quote creation and strategy for all building envelope-related opportunities.
  • Leverage market intelligence and product expertise to develop an unsolicited bid program designed to drive incremental sales within the existing customer base for building envelope products.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Coordinate closely with supply chain, logistics, warehouse, and operations to ensure seamless sourcing, distribution, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote new product categories and educate customers through targeted campaigns.
  • Partner with finance to evaluate pricing models, margin performance, and sales forecasts.
  • Stay current with building envelope innovations, codes, regulations, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Recommend improvements to strengthen Convoy’s overall building envelope strategy and execution.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, product management, or sales leadership within the building products or construction sector, especially in exterior systems (walls, insulation, waterproofing, façade systems).
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience building business cases, pricing strategies, and margin optimization.
  • Proven track record of negotiating vendor agreements, managing product launches, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to engage internal teams as well as technical audiences (architects, engineers, contractors).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance vision and execution.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, growing environment — self-starter, resilient, and adaptable.
  • Willingness to travel provincially as needed.
