POSITION:  Supervisor, Security

UNIT: Security 

STATUS: Full Time

SALARY:  $44.46 - 52.02 hourly

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Security Manager, the Supervisor is responsible to work collaboratively to ensure improvement and excellence within the department.  This includes achievement of strategic goals and objectives by providing guidance, direction and support, in keeping with STEGH's mission, vision and values. In collaboration with the Leader, the Supervisor is responsible for guiding day-to-day departmental work, demonstrating accountability and commitment to develop a work environment that exemplifies inter-professional and ethical practice professional, autonomous decision making empowerment, integrative thinking and problem solving.  This is achieved by applying evidence-based leadership practices and lean improvement methodology.

The Supervisor will provide expertise and work collaboratively with the Leader and their management colleagues to ensure operational efficiencies of the department(s), ultimately allowing the organization to accomplish its goal of providing an excellent patient care experience every time.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for daily operations of the department, providing on going supervision and coaching to staff in the department.
  • Investigate and respond to issues, complaints and procedural issues
  • Monitors operations daily for security compliance with a complete understanding of the external security contract
  • Responding to departmental RL6 (safety) events, ensuring timely completion with appropriate corrective action when needed

HOURS:

The successful candidate will work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. (37.5 hours weekly) with a willingness to adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the Hospital. This position is also required to participate in the leadership on-call rotation.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Police Foundations or related Security, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid and Current Private Security and Investigative Services License in Ontario required
  • Minimum of 5 years of licensed Security Guard experience required
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in Healthcare
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of unionized work environments grievances, and collective agreements
  • Demonstrated behaviours supporting our core values/mission
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering results with excellent financial and quality management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety at STEGH
  • Demonstrated values-based leadership and proven track record
  • Demonstrated leader, ability to develop self and others through coaching, mentoring and formal processes
  • Self-directed and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
