ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our team as a Maintenance III – Multi-Skill Tradesperson/Lead Hand and help keep our long-term care sites running smoothly. In this role, you’ll operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment and systems, including heating and cooling components, while using safe work practices, strong planning, and thorough inspections to ensure compliance with all governing codes. As a Lead Hand, you’ll also support day-to-day coordination of work activities, provide guidance to team members, and play a key role in our sustainability efforts by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing computerized energy monitoring systems across our sites.

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
-
A Valid Journeyman's 'Red Seal' trade qualification as a Steamfitter/Plumber/Millwrighting/HVAC in the Province of Ontario, preference given to HVAC.

A combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in Steamfitter/Plumber/Millwrighting/HVAC is usually required; or
-
A combination of several years of work experience in a maintenance or trade field with applicable relevant education is required

Gas technician licensing is preferred
Skills/Abilities:

Proficient computer skills for accessing of information, updating preventative maintenance program and/or equipment troubleshooting

Effective verbal and written communication skills
-
Ability to interpret and work from manuals, plans and drawings

Knowledge of work-related codes and regulations
-
Must be able to work accurately, quickly and use safe work practices

Able to perform the physical demands of the position, which may include walking, standing, and heavy lifting for extended periods.
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Assets:

Experience in (BAS) building operation systems

Refrigeration certification
-
Building Controls training and certification
-
Knowledge of commercial building plumbing systems, including repair experience
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
- Valid Ontario driver's license: Class G
- Must be available for "on call' requests after normal working hours
