POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator under minimal supervision is responsible for the set up and daily operation of production machinery and to ensure the line is continuing at the desired optimal level.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Set up the machine including ensuring any calibration is completed.
  • Clean production equipment ensuring all SOPs are followed.
  • Report machinery malfunctions to the appropriate parties.
  • Ensure all quality checks on the machine are done as per the required schedule and logged.
  • Discard any products that are incorrectly packaged or damaged.
  • Apply approved methods, package the finished goods neatly into storage units such as trays, cartons etc.
  • Lift packaged goods onto skid as required.
  • Using pump trucks, transport pallets of packaged goods to specified areas.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping is maintained.
  • Assist with material handling (bring raw materials to production area).
  • Adhere to GMP and GDP practices.
  • Adhere to all Food Safety and QA practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years’ experience operating a machine in a manufacturing and/or production environment is preferred 
  • Able to lift 35 lbs. on a regular/consistent basis.
  • Able to handle 50 lbs.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Able to read and write English to complete production logs.
  • Quick paced and able to keep up with fast paced production lines.
  • Team player.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Shift schedule: 4x10 Monday to Thursday Evenings - Start Time 4:30pm to 3:00am
  • Working in cool and/or hot temperatures within the plant.
  • Frequent bending, crouching and twisting.
  • Constant standing throughout the day.
  • Working with green coffee dust and exposure to noise levels above 90 decibels.
