POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Two - Temporary Casual Part-Time Positions (Approximately December 13, 2021 - March 31, 2022;  may end sooner/be extended)

The primary role of the Screener is to greet and screen all staff, patients, families and visitors that enter the hospital. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Review screening tools and assess eligibility for entrances;
  • Screen all individuals entering the Hospital for signs, symptoms and travel based on the screening tool;
  • Verify staff eligibility for entrance (ID Badge or other means);
  • Ensure all persons entering the Hospital follow proper precautionary measures and wear the appropriate protective apparel as required;
  • Refer individuals for advanced screening if required;
  • Direct individuals to proper assessments areas as needed;
  • Ability to de-escalate conflict and involve leadership appropriately.

HOURS:

The successful candidate must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays with flexibility to cover additional shifts as required. Please note the schedules and hours of work may change due to operational needs.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma;
  • Healthcare experience is an asset;
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods of time;
  • Willing to wear personal protective apparel (gown, gloves, mask and face shield) and abide by requirements prescribed for their use;
  • Demonstrated strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers
  • Thorough and strong attention to detail;
  • Flexible and adaptable;
  • Ability to remain calm, utilizing conflict management skills;
  • Reliable and punctual;
  • Demonstrated acceptable attendance and performance record
  • Demonstrated values consistent with STEGH’s mission, vision and values
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety practices for self and others (staff, patients, families, visitors, etc) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
