PFM Packaging Machinery Corporation the is the North American headquarters for PFM Groupbased in Newmarket, ON CANADA. Our industrial group designs, builds and markets around many models of flow-wrapping and vertical form-fill-seal machines, stand up pouch packaging machines together with various automatic feed systems and the ancillary equipment employed for custom-made installations.

 

Controls Technologist

The controls engineer position is to ensure the success of our packaging machinery projects through design, implementation, and testing of the machinery controls. This skilled position is located at our Newmarket location.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Write code to control machine motion per requirements
  • Problem solving and solution recommendation
  • Provide engineering support to customers
  • Support the testing and installation of equipment
  • Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Assist with training of internal and external customers
  • Provide support to the Customer Technical Service department

 

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of programming practices
  • Knowledge of motion and timing
  • Mechanical, controls, and electrical system knowledge
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic components
  • Experience or training with PC’s, servos, and PLC’s
  • Must have previous programming experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley products
  • Experience with Siemens products is preferred
  • Knowledge of international codes/standards OSHA, NFPA, CSA, EN, and IEC
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to visualize concepts and develop control philosophies
  • Ability to accept assignment broad in nature
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people both verbally and in writing, including presentation skills
  • Self-starter, creative and problem solver
  • Ability to work independently and execute a plan
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must have knowledge of Allen Bradley motion control software platforms as well as programming experience.
