POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE

DEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY MEDICINE

STATUS: REGULAR PART TIME (B) 

SALARY: $34.24 - $49.02

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Emergency Department provides full service to meet the unscheduled and emergency needs of patients. STEGH's Emergency departments is one of the best performing hospitals in Ontario for ED wait times. With improvements to the waiting area, triage and specialized zones where less urgent patients can be services, we provide faster service and improved care for our patients. With state of the art equipment and nurses and physicians with advanced skills in emergency medical, the ED team at STEGH is there to make every journey through the ED an excellent patient experience. 

The RN is responsible for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through application of specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing health needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. 

HOURS:

Must be available for all 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours applicable to the department/unit, and other tours as assigned by the hospital, 24 hour rotation, seven (7) days per week. In addition, the successful candidate must be available on a pre-determined basis for at least one (1) tour per bi-weekly pay period.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Registered Nurse, currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Graduate of a BSc in Nursing or education and experience that allows the RN to practice at full scope
  • Preference will be given to those with at least one (1) year Emergency experience 
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Certification in Emergency Nursing with the Canadian Nurses Association
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current CTAS certification preferred
  • TNCC course preferred
  • ENPC, NRP, or PALS training course or a willingness to obtain
  • Proven ability to assess patients, establishing priority of patient care from life threatening to non-urgent
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work independently utilizing effective organizational skills in an ever-changing fast-paced environment
  • Proven assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills related to intensive care nursing
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record)
  • Proven ability to work independently utilizing strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program required

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
