Permanent Full-time, 40hrs/week

Schedule: On-Call, Afterhours

 

We are currently seeking applications for a full-time Parks and Recreation Facility Maintenance Technician. The Facility Maintenance Technician is the lead staff for all facility renovations and maintenance. This position provides general maintenance, repairs and renovations to all municipal facilities, equipment and park infrastructure within the Parks and Recreation Department.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. The capability to perform physical tasks in varying environmental conditions is a requirement for this position. Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor.

 

Duties:

  • Responsible and accountable for conducting general maintenance and the repair and renovation of all municipally owned facilities
  • Take lead role on construction and renovation projects
  • Assist with setup, takedown and the operation of special events
  • Responsible for completing regular safety and risk management checks associated with various lands and facilities
  • Operate commercial vehicles, mowers, and tractors, small power tools, radio communications equipment and other specialized seasonal maintenance equipment
  • Assist with winter snow operations

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education related to facility management, skilled trade and/or project management
  • Red Seal Endorsement in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical or similar trade considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in facility management, trade or general construction
  • Skill set to take lead role in facility renovations and maintenance
  • A valid Minimum Class G Ontario Driver’s License in good standing; Class D-Z License an asset
  • Knowledge of facility operations including facility automation, electrical, plumbing, security, building maintenance and risk management gained through experience in property/building maintenance
  • General construction skills such as electrical, plumbing, framing, masonry, and dry walling experience required

 

We Offer:

  • $27.08 to $31.86  per hour
