You will work closely with the hiring managers to fulfill their talent needs efficiently and timely while creating a positive experience for interested applicants.  

This is an ideal position for an energetic individual to build their HR career with an established, reputable, and growing company. As part of the HR team, you will collaborate to develop the talent attraction strategy and promote the company's reputation as an employer of choice within the construction industry.

The work location is flexible, and we’re open to establishing a remote, office or blended work arrangement within Ontario/Quebec.   

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions for all Canada locations (and the US as required)
  • Write job descriptions and targeted job postings
  • Source quality candidates using a variety of methods
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to use social media to attract top talent while building the employer brand recognition
  • Screen, interview and assess potential candidates
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with the hiring manager
  • Complete reference checks and other pre-employment checks and testing that may be required
  • Lead the recruitment process following relevant employment laws and regulations
  • Structure and present job offers within established guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries from potential applicants, candidates, and team members
  • Manage the orientation and onboarding program for all new employees
  • Complete related administrative, tracking, and record-keeping activities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technology relating to talent sourcing, attraction, and recruitment
  • Collaborate with the HR team and other stakeholders to develop a recruitment strategy to promote Convoy and maintain a viable stream of talent
  • Identify opportunities and recommend improvements to enhance recruitment processes
  • Coordinate targeted recruitment activities and events such as job fairs, student cooperative programs, work experience programs, and other activities to build our talent pipeline
  • Participate in HR team activities and projects
  • Manage the Employee Referral program

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • CPHR designation completed or in progress is considered an asset
  • 2+ years of recruitment experience across a wide range of positions, ideally in construction, warehouse, or trucking industries
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creativity and ability to source candidates for hard-to-fill positions
  • Proficient with various recruitment platforms, including LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Familiarity with general HR policies, procedures, and practices
  • Strong desire to learn and thrive in an environment of high demand and constantly evolving recruitment practices, tools, and technology
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to collaborate within and across department lines
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French would be considered an asset
  • Ability to occasionally travel to attend various recruitment related events
  • The location for this job is flexible within Canada and may be established as a work-from-home arrangement, office location, or a combination home/office as mutually agreed between the incumbent and HR Manager
