HR Recruiter Career Opportunity (Temporary - Maternity Leave)

You will work closely with the hiring managers to fulfill their talent needs efficiently and timely while creating a positive experience for interested applicants.

This is an ideal position for an energetic individual to build their HR career with an established, reputable, and growing company. As part of the HR team, you will collaborate to develop Convoy’s talent attraction strategy and promote Convoy’s reputation as an employer of choice within the construction industry.

The work location is flexible, and this is a remote position.

This is 18-month contract for a maternity leave coverage. 

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruitment for assigned Canadian and US locations:

       - Regularly collaborate with hiring managers regarding current and upcoming positions
       - Write job descriptions and targeted job postings following relevant employment laws and regulations
       - Source quality candidates using a variety of methods
       - Screen, interview, and assess potential candidates (including over the phone and Microsoft Teams)
       - Schedule and coordinate interviews with the hiring managers
       - Complete reference checks and other pre-employment checks and testing that may be required
       - Structure and present job offer within established guidelines

• Respond to inquiries from potential applicants, candidates, and Convoy team members
• Work with the Marketing team to use social media to attract top talent while building the employer brand recognition
• Provide a positive orientation and onboarding program for all new employees
• Complete related administrative, tracking, and record-keeping activities
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technology relating to talent sourcing, attraction, and recruitment
• Collaborate with the HR team and other stakeholders to develop a recruitment strategy to promote Convoy and maintain a viable stream of talent
• Participate in HR team activities and projects
• Manage the Employee Referral program
• Complete related activities as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
• CPHR designation - completed or in progress is considered an asset
• 2+ years of recruitment experience across a wide range of positions, ideally in construction, warehouse, or trucking industries
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creativity and ability to source candidates for hard-to-fill positions
• Proficient with various recruitment platforms, including LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.
• Self-motivated yet customer-focused
• Ability to collaborate within and across department lines
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
• Familiarity with general HR policies, procedures, and practices
• Strong desire to learn and thrive in an environment of high demand and constantly evolving recruitment practices, tools, and technology
• Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships, network, gain trust, and influence others
• Excellent organization skills, sense of urgency, and the ability to juggle multiple and changing priorities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency in written and spoken French is a nice to have
