As a fully accredited hospital under the national standards of Accreditation Canada; Lake of the Woods District Hospital’s goal is to provide high quality patient care. LWDH meets the immediate healthcare needs of residents of the City of Kenora, as well as a large surrounding area, including several First Nations Communities.  Treating well over 30,000 people per year, LWDH is Northwestern Ontario’s largest hospital outside of Thunder Bay.  Additionally, the hospital is an integral partner in the All Nations Health Partners Ontario Health Team; one of the first 24 teams in the province and is currently in the planning phase of developing a new All Nations Hospital. 

LWDH  has several exciting opportunities for various specialty and non-specialty areas within the hospital.

Presently, we are recruiting for full time and part time Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) in the Emergency Department, ICU, and Medical/Pediatric/Maternity units.

In addition to having a current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and excellent communication skills (verbal & written), the successful candidates will have the following skills and qualifications:

 

  • Current Certification in BLS , ALCS & TNCC
  • CTAS training preferred for Emergency Department assignments
  • Certification in Blood Glucose Monitoring and demonstrated continuing competence in BGM through annual recertification.
  • Certification in IV Therapy with demonstrated ongoing competence.
  • Must be able to function independently and demonstrate competence in Acute Care and/or Complex Continuing Care Nursing Practice within an RN/RPN scope of practice.
  • Ability to respond to dynamic patient care needs
  • Reliable attendance record.
  • Current certification in WHMIS.
  • Knowledge of First Nations Culture.
  • Certification in CPI an asset.

STARTING SALARY:  As per the applicable Collective Agreement.

TOURS:          Area of duty will vary according to patient census & initial assignment.
