Human Resources Coordinator – Full Time

An exciting full-time permanent opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator exists in the Human Resources Department reporting to the Manager, Human Resources. The Human Resources Coordinator will provide a wide range of HR support to all internal and external stakeholders. Working in partnership with the Human Resources Representatives, the Human Resources Coordinator provides support across a wide variety of HR functions. The Human Resources Coordinator leads full-cycle recruitment for the hospital. In addition, they provide HRIS/Payroll support throughout the employee life cycle including: new hire entry, benefits enrollment, internal transfers, leave of absence, retirement and terminations processing. The Human Resources Coordinator champions service excellence with internal and external contacts and acts as an ambassador of the organization supporting employees.


Job Summary

  • Coordinates and manages the full recruitment cycle including reviewing postings, developing interview questions, completing references and presenting offers to candidates
  • Counsels hiring leaders on the recruitment process including identified hard to fill, developing sourcing strategies and providing guidance on interpretation of collective agreements
  • Supports new employee onboarding process
  • Responds to employee questions or concerns in assigned client groups in partnership with the Strategic
  • Provides guidance, direction and support to the client group on recruitment, hospital policies & procedures, and total rewards, i.e. leaves of absences, retirements, vacation policy etc.
  • Adheres to applicable collective agreements, legislation and policies
  • Drafts letters relating to job offers, contract extensions, benefit changes, compensation changes and other letters as required
  • Performs pay and benefit administration for new hires, i.e. data entry into the HRIS system, Green Shield and HOOPP.
  • Compiles data for HR subspecialties including compensation and labour relations
  • Supports the ongoing development and enhancement of HR data integrity
  • Supports education and volunteer programs
  • Provides administrative support to committees
  • Generates and distributes various HR reports as needed
  • Contributes to Human Resources team projects and quality improvement initiatives

Kenora’s cultural roots are a rich tapestry of old world traditions and modern Canadian multiculturalism. People have been living on the Lake of the Woods for thousands of years, and this area served as an important portage on the cross Canada waterway, connecting the Lake of the Woods and the Winnipeg River. Situated not far from Winnipeg and nestled in the heart of North America’s Premier Boating Destination, Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH) is a fully accredited hospital under the national standards of Accreditation Canada. LWDH’s goal is to provide high quality patient care. LWDH meets the immediate healthcare needs of residents of the City of Kenora, as well as a large surrounding area, including several First Nations Communities.  Treating well over 30,000 people per year, LWDH is Northwestern Ontario’s largest hospital outside of Thunder Bay.  Additionally, the hospital is an integral partner in the All Nations Health Partners Ontario Health Team; one of the first 24 teams in the province and is currently in the planning phase of developing a new All Nations Hospital.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate Degree in Resources program, Commerce or a related field from a recognized institution
  • Two (2) to three (3) years HR experience in a unionized health care environment setting preferred
  • CHRP designation preferred
  • Experience in a unionized setting required; experience in a health care environment preferred
  • An understanding of collective agreements and relevant legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Human Resources systems
  • Experience coordinating events and training with strong public speaking skills
  • Experience working within a recruitment software and electronically managing a recruitment process
  • Compensation and Benefits administration experience an asset
  • Proven ability to prioritize duties/projects, multi-task, and work independently in a fast-paced environment with constant demands
  • Strong customer service orientation, sensitive to client issues and understanding of importance of diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication required to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Quality improvement and customer service focus
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Lake of the Woods District Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
