POSITION: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
(Shifts: 8-hours, Days, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)
Primary Site: Stratford
Casual

POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician is delegated, and is accountable for the dispensing and compounding of drugs, as outlined by the Regulated Health Professions Act (1991). Certain duties are supervised by a Pharmacist to ensure efficient operation of the Department.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Regional Pharmacy Services

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $27.45 to $29.14 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
- Diploma from a recognized College
- Registered with Ontario College of Pharmacists

Experience:
-Three years hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred

Abilities:
- Organized and self-directed, including the ability to multitask
- Works well as a team member and with other health care professionals
- Able to work independently, with initiative and within structured guidelines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate, including the Meditech System
- Well developed pharmaceutical calculation skills and knowledge of trade/generic drug names
- Experienced aseptic technique and handling of chemotherapeutic agents
- Experienced in drug order entry
- Knowledgeable of drug distribution systems
- Familiar with narcotic and controlled drug legislation and its application to the hospital setting
- Experienced with drug purchasing and inventory control
- Ability to travel among sites as required
- Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation as required
- Ability to keep up-to-date with technological advances
-In possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel among sites
