POSITION: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (Support I)
(Shifts: 8-hours, Days, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)

Primary Site: Stratford

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervisor, Regional Pharmacy Services. The Pharmacy Technician is delegated, and is accountable for the dispensing and compounding of drugs, as outlined by the Regulated Health Professions Act (1991). Certain duties are supervised by a Pharmacist to ensure efficient operation of the Department.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Pharmacy

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $27.02 to $28.68 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Diploma from a recognized College
- Registered with Ontario College of Pharmacists
Experience:
-Three years hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred
Abilities:
- Organized and self-directed, including the ability to multitask
- Works well as a team member and with other health care professionals
- Able to work independently, with initiative and within structured guidelines
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate, including the Meditech System
- Well developed pharmaceutical calculation skills and knowledge of trade/generic drug names
- Experienced aseptic technique and handling of chemotherapeutic agents
- Experienced in drug order entry
- Knowledgeable of drug distribution systems
- Familiar with narcotic and controlled drug legislation and its application to the hospital setting
- Experienced with drug purchasing and inventory control
- Ability to travel among sites as required
- Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation as required
- Ability to keep up-to-date with technological advances
-In possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel among sites
