POSITION:                                             NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

DEPARTMENT:                                      INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Clayton County Water Authority provides water, sewer, and storm water services to more than a quarter of a million people throughout Clayton County and its six cities through approximately 82,000 customer accounts.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Network Administrator is part of the IT Operations team and is responsible for the design, configuration, installation, maintenance, and support of the local and wide area network for the business and SCADA environments. and provide technical assistance regarding the network to end users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and backup all network devices including switches, load balancers, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor(s).
  • Ensures security of the network: manages transmission control and internet protocols (TCP/IP), Domain Name Servers (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocols (DHCP); and maintains end user permission security and access.
  • Monitors network system hardware and proactively troubleshoots hardware, and software systems: ensures all systems, and environments are operating at optimal levels.

Specific License or Certification:
Possession and maintenance of the following certifications or licensures is preferred: Microsoft Certified Expert, Network+, and Cisco Certified Network Associate Certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Network Communications, or a related field preferred; supplemented by three to five of progressively responsible experience in network administration; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
