POSITION: SUPERVISOR, Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD)
Alliance-wide
Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
The MDRD is a support department responsible for reprocessing of medical devices for the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance. Under the direction of the Manager, Surgical Services and MDRD, the Supervisor, MDRD is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the MDRD. The Supervisor facilitates the provision of quality service including ensuring the timely processing of equipment and supplies necessary to support the operation of internal departments (e.g. Operating Rooms and clinical departments) as well as external customers In this role, the Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and development of all MDRD staff and ensures that all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards are met.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Surgical Services and MDRD

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

QUALIFICATIONS:
- College Diploma or University Degree in business/related field or equivalent required
- Certificate in Medical Device Reprocessing from Community College or equivalent required
- Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) through CSA Group preferred
- Completion of Management Training Programs (e.g. educational seminars, personnel management and material management programs and courses directly related to the position)
- Participation in in-service programs designed specifically for MDRD
- Training in Occupational Health and Safety
- Training in Infection Prevention and Control

EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years’ experience in sterile processing, supply distribution and inventory control required
- Knowledge, training and demonstrated expertise in the use and application of all processes used in the MDRD
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Knowledge of sterile processing and regulatory requirements required
- Proficient in use of computer programs related to data processing
- Previous Operating Room experience preferred

ABILITIES:
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Meditech software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with team-building and conflict resolution
- Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to facilitate group decision-making and organization of workload
