The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new business in the dealer and trade network by converting or growing loyalty to the Marvin products.  This role will focus on achieving annual sales, market share, and profitability goals in targeted geographies and segments, and develop and maintain a network channel partner that provides full market coverage for all geographic areas and segments. The successful candidate will build channel partner loyalty, alignment of market development and sales efforts, and build strong sales relationships and in-depth market intelligence within the builder and trade community. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively prospect for new dealer and trade business, particularly those whose segment focus aligns with the Marvin products. Create and build these relationships and engage area channel partners to support their successful long-term growth.
  • Strategically develop targeted potential customers in the trade community. Collaborate with sales, sales support, and marketing to deliver value to channel and trade partners in support of growth.
  • Provide product and technical solutions on individual project opportunities
  • Implement strategic sales plans; develop territory budget and sales forecasts
  • Lead annual business planning and review process with channel partners to ensure results-oriented business plans
  • Identify and call on targeted trade prospects to gain conversion and loyalty to Marvin brands
  • Plan and host channel partner and trade customer factory tours
  • Assist channel partners with product solutions on specific projects
  • Develop, maintain and communicate a strong understanding of market conditions, trends, and the competitive environment
  • Represent Marvin brands at trade shows and events
  • Utilize Salesforce to report and assess the results of market activities
  • Develop and maintain market analysis for territory
  • Identify and add channel partners to ensure full market coverage (by geography and segment)
  • Support and implement company sales and marketing programs, and product introductions
  • Maintain positive working relationships with decision makers through use of creative problem solving, accurate information, and timely responses

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Premium building products experience in dealer direct territory-based outside sales required
  • Fenestration industry experience given additional consideration
  • Fluid and confident verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills with an ability to convey strong, clear, concise messages to target audiences including employees, customers, pro trade personnel, and industry groups; interact with and motivate cross-functional company groups
  • Cohesive interpersonal and relationship-building skills at multiple levels
  • Solution-oriented and innovative thinking abilities
  • Developed organizational skills, intuition, and reasoning abilities

Work Conditions

  • Interaction with internal staff (remote and in office)
  • Visits to construction/ job sites, residential and commercial locations
  • Occasional travel
  • Operation of desktop computer and peripherals (mainly from home office)
