We are looking for a Material Handler to assist with the operation of our new facility in the Foothills of Alberta.  This is an excellent company to work for and expand your knowledge.

Primary Purpose:

Perform warehouse activities, picking & packing orders, shipping & receiving to meet customer order demands. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Correct and/or report any unsafe conditions or hazards immediately and work towards goal of “zero” injuries and incidents.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use of PPE is mandatory.
  • Participate in cycle counts as directed.
  • Ensure that the storage areas and warehouse is kept clean and tidy, which includes identifying areas where processes could be improved, and work practices amended.
  • Provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of customer orders.
  • Provides for the efficient receiving, marking, and stocking of merchandise; ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with all labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.                                          

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Routine decisions and problem solving to meet sales & customer requirements.
  • Use of company equipment and compliance with company policies & guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be able to work under Company policies where experience and independent judgment are needed.
  • Should be familiar with the office workflow, operations of each department, particular products and their handling problems, and knowledge of all departments within the warehouse.
  • Must be able to work with others.
  • Minimum of 2yrs experience and licensed on a Reach Truck
  • Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.
  • Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.
  • WHMIS / TDG certificate is preferable.

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma, or GED with additional schooling or equivalent business experience.
  • Ability to read, write, count, understand and speak English. 

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

  • The physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 lb. net bags for short distances.-to move from truck to skid.  Not consistently all day.
  • The physical ability to tilt back or break 800 lb. net drums onto a dolly.
  • The physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. May require safety equipment and/or precautions.
